Opening on 25.07: beyond, Amsterdam

This exhibition brings together works by Rody Luton—an artist based at atelierWG—and two invited Ukrainian artists, Hanna Hrabarska and Anna Kakhiana. Each explores, through diverse mediums, what it means to go beyond the here and now, and beyond firm ground. Together, they create a space of shared imagination, inviting you to step past boundaries of the familiar, and discover reimagined realms of memory, identity and dreams. ‘Beyond’ is about journeying out and reaching beyond.

.
Rody Luton presents Meridians & Parallels—paintings inspired by her journeys across the oceans, reflecting on the imaginary lines imposed on the globe, such as the date line, that disregard the natural flow of landscapes and peoples. The works take us beyond place and time, where past experiences and memories merge into visual narratives and abstract forms.

Hanna Hrabarska’s work ‘open to a lot’ is a deeply personal attempt to understand a realm of beauty and human connection to oneself, to others, and to the world. It is an ongoing investigation of intimacy, vulnerability, and lust —lust for life, love, and human connection.

Anna Kakhiani’s spatial intervention and documentation drawings delve into the imagery of places that recur in her nighttime dreams—spaces where reality and imagination blur into non- narrative dimensions. Her research focuses on institutional sites as containers of memory, seen through the lens of presence and absence, transition and liminality.

This exhibition is part of an ongoing series at atelierWG in Amsterdam, where studio artists present their own work and invite other artists to engage in creative dialogue.
