Restoring The Wing

Keywords: act of hope, corporeality, restoration
An object made from feathers collected after a deadly bird fight in the courtyard of the Zeeuws Museum during the Zomeratelier at CBK Zeeland, Middelburg, Netherlands.
This symbolic act of restoration brings together lost feathers into a single large Frankenstein wing. It no longer serves its original function—except, perhaps, as a gesture toward the deep human desire to retrieve what has been lost and to mend what has been broken.
