The Ghost of Solidity

2025
spatial installation: fabric, charcoal powder, sheets of crystal paper with charcoal drawings

Created for the Shared Home.Shared Fight exhibition.

In this work, I question both the solidity of the material world and its value in restoring the feeling of home.

What gives the peaceful Europe and shelled and bombed Ukrainian homes the same ground? The ephemeral security and safety make the walls of any home uncertain and transparent, exposing us as targets in the face of terror, which is taking lives just next door. It brings us closer to each other more than we think.

In the context of the internal and external forced migration due to the war, millions of people had to find refuge. From a material and practical perspective, it requires having walls, roofs, furniture, other facilities… But do all of those physical matters bring the essence of home back? The feeling of home becomes a fluid ghost which comes from time to time to leave you with bitter but warm memory prints.
The installation was created in solidarity with all those who have lost their homes in any sense of the word.
